Yep, it was quite easy, didn't take much time getting this one. I will be tougher in the New Year, I promise.

It is tooled leather, a crest of sorts I made 35 yrs ago. My mother had been storing it somewhere and just gave it to me.

Good guess.
It is a photocell that is used to turn on the infrared leds that you see.
This is on a security camera. :)

How about a telescope setting screw. Only other optics I know of outside the optomitrist is telescope, binocular, camera and microscope. Jewlers use an eye scope.
