Sorry for not responding, had a loooong day of classes and I just wanted to unwind before doing my forum rounds.

Sofar nobody is right, however I will tell you that fire will travel down it....once. This one in particular has never been used, the wear and tear is just sings of age and poor handling.

I'll give it to you for saying fuse, since i doubt anyone would be able to get what it is a fuse for.

Technically it is the powder tube in a grenade, the powder that makes up the fuse runs through it.

I bought it for $8 at a local guns shop. obviously its emptied and drilled (there is a hole about the size of a dime in the bottom to help prevent re-filling) for safety. Personally i think it is one of the best $8 i have ever spent since it is one of my favorite objects lying around my house that i can photograph.

It's not only fun but it's great as a exercise in technique. I remember how pathetic my first macro shots where and then how much I realized I had to spend to get the macro shots to be better. :-) and then how much I realized I could save by using "alternate" methods.

Original peanut shot taken with 350D, EF-S 60mm Macro lens with 35mm Jessops extension tube. 430 EX flash with diffuser. Handheld. The competition shot was a 100% crop of the central area. BTW - it tasted good!

Ha, looked like a round hole in sumptin to me, but what do I know.

One fair guess. It is computer style black plastic with a tiny hole in it. While the part looks tapered in two dimensions it also looks like part of a larger unit. Difficult to say if the hole is functional, yet most likely it is in a way, if so some speaker or mike deal.

.....Never heard of such a thing, are there PC's you put a padlock on or you just yankin' our chain? Both my Dells have locking rings. So you can lock it up and nobody can steal anything from the inside. Theres no screws holding the case closed. Theres just a big button you push and the case plits on a hinge.

Laughing my fool head off. Just looked at the back of all our computers, and lo and behold, a place to lock each one up. I don't know how many times I have been inside, cleaning or installing components and never notice until now. Just goes to show that you are never too old to learn............:D
