Look like sticks of chalk to me too - but how do you draw on a blackboard with black chalk?
Thats why there charcoals, Like the kind artists use for doing sketchs. Most of the time they use a paper thats rough so the coal sticks.

Thanks. Guys, I love trying to figure these out and this is the first time I have had any clue as to what it might be. However, as you can see by my sig I have no way of getting a decent macro shot so I am going to pass my turn on to someone else who can. But I intend to keep playing if that is OK.

In2Photos, I don't have any macro equipment either...if that is what you're referring to. Just do what I do, get as close as you can on an object that is a sharp shot and then crop the heck out of the photo. I posted an airplane engine part about 15 pages back and I did not use a macro lens. Its more fun posting a shot up too.:D

Correct. From my gas fireplace.

Man I would have never of gotten that. My fireplace uses real wood, no gas for me.

As for BearLeeAlive's shot, I think it is a close up of a single cinnamon toast cruch cereal wafer.

I have done that many a time, so yes, the clue did give it away. Fortunately there are not many dandelions under the snow right now.;)
