C'mon, there is either having a life or playing The SMGG, you decide. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

JK, but I know the feeling only too well, I have had to refrain from posting a guess just in case I was right and might not have the time to either post an image or even check it out.

photobiz, you might want to seek the help of the SMGGA support group (kinda like AA). PM Mike Bell, who is the appointed president. There you can get help with balancing your real life and your addiction to this thread. In this you are not alone.

Hey ........... who appointed me President?
Just because I have a special folder on my puter called 'macro competitions' where I have a vast store of fiendishly difficult macros stored up to be released into an unsuspecting world whenever my hours of lurking in here squinting at other guys efforts actually result in a successful guess doesn't mean I couldn't just walk away and forget the game.
Oh no! No waysaroony! I could stop today .... or tomorrow ...... any time ...... really!   <sobs uncontrollably>

Well, the problem is... Taco Bell is pretty sparse outside the USA, so you can't really expect an Aussie and a Scot to guess something like that.

Australia only just got Burger King/Hungry Jacks and Subway less than 10 years ago, and Scotland.... well I don't think even MacDonalds have been game enough to venture into that wasteland. LOL.

Photobiz - thanks for reminding our American cousins that we do not all eat the same junk food. In the interests of international diplomacy I will rise above the 'wasteland' comment and merely rejoice that, while we do in fact have MacDonalds and Burger King in Scotland, we have been spared some of the dubious benefits of multinational corporations peddling unhealthy food to our citizens. We Scots have always known what healthy food is - haggis and chips followed by a deep-fried Mars bar!

I've never had a deep fried mars bar (uugghhh!), but haggis is wonderful - the proper stuff mind you, not the crap you get from tescos. McSweens make a quality haggis! :) I think this shot was a bit too close up, but I already deleted the original so I can give you another view. Hmmm, these can come in all shapes, sizes and colors and have a longer lifespan than humans.

This wouldn't be some sort of cleaning contraption, would it? Like a duster?

Photobitz, late for you in Oz, isn't it? (and I blame my first guess on Bearlee, everything is pretty much his fault)

Sorry, thought it must be my wife talking.;)

Not a candle, duster, or blow-up doll.:)

Another clue: the thing that you see in the picture makes an audible "snap" the first time you use it.

No really!:)

I just don't know what other clues to give that won't give it away.

A heating or cooling pad?

Like the ones with chemicals that you *snap* to make a chemical reaction that heats and cools your back/arms/legs/etc?

Rumjungle

Good guess, but no. I think I've stumped you guys.;)

Hint: These things are usually translucent.

Getting closer. Stuff can be put into it. Remember about the audible snap.

I think that's close enough:

Sure was. But as I've said before, with 2 screaming kids and late finish for work, early morning is the only time I get to myself.

Hey everyone, I am sorry but I was unable to get one last night. Something came up. If someone else has one ready please feel free to jump in.

Just use your 50mm and make an extension tube out of a toilet paper roll.

LOL

I am such a cheapskate!

Mind you, I do think that Canon extension tubes are way overpriced for what they are, but then who else makes them?

Agreed one hundred percent. That's why I will be picking up a set of Kenko tubes when I finally get my 30D. A 12, 20 and 36mm on ebay all for the price of one Canon 25mm tube.
I couldn't bring myself to walk around with a toilet roll on the end of my camera.

EDIT: When I said I agreed 100% I was refering to the overpricing not you being a cheapskate - although you have got me thinking. :)

I don't actually use toilet rolls myself. I do use close-up filter lenses which I suppose are almost as bad.

Matoch

I'd get the kenko tubes. They are significantly cheaper. The only downside is that out of the box you can't use them with ef-s lenses. But if you take your time with a dremel you can fix that.

This thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=104420) has a picture about half way down that shows you what you need to do.
