You don't even need macro lenses - but they are wondrous things to possess! :) Get a few extension tubes on whatever lens you got with the 350D and start shooting! Welcome to this thread anyway. Nope and nope. Still too large. If this will help, the original image was taken at about 3:1 (I think. Really rough calculation). The object in the picture is about 2mm in diameter.

The earplug was sort of close, but something other than sound comes out of this.

I'll put up another clue tomorrow if no one guesses it.
