Dear AirBront: I would like to know how you manage to come up with this stuff. Do you say, stand in the shower and as you are rinsing your hair, look up and think.."Wow, now that will make a great macro shot that no one will guess"? Or perhaps, you are standing on a ladder cleaning out your gutter? LMAO
I'm just curious as to what flips your switches!

The process I use to decide my macro shot is quite in-depth. It requires precise examination of not only the object's relative position and complexity, but also its supposed "unguessability," which is a concept I developed and that is derived by the juxtaposition of both the physical and (sometimes) mechanical properties of said object.
.
Kidding. I actually just go over to my bedside table (which is covered in tons of stuff) and pick out a random object. Then, I look at parts of it that people don't usually associate with it. For instance, when misspix posted her last picture, it had many features exclusive to itself. Right off the bat, I noticed that it was black, circular, had a mechanism around the edge and had a raised portion (a letter maybe?) in the center. This right away narrowed it down to only a few objects. Given that this was a photography board, a lens-cap seemed like the logical conclusion.
Also, it's a lot easier when you can do a reversed-lens macro at 3:1. Most things looks a lot different at those ratios.
Oh, and I'm a little weird. That might help a little too ;).
I'll post another hint tomorrow. Keep guessing!

Could this be another hole pic?
Is it a spinning thing.

not a hammer, not a hole. not a whatsit. :) Its a simple everyday item. Probably 85% of households have at least one. Chip in when you have a guess!
(edit) And Man! I thought this was gonna be super easy! I hastily grabbed something, photoed it, and posted it.

Alright. From the "chip in" remark I will guess a coffee cup.
Edit: It is metal. It is grooved and painted. Everyday item with 85% of the households having at least one....makes me say hmmm.

refrigerator magnet
It is magnetic and I have several on the side of the refrigerator, but they're not all that decorative. They are useful, though.
(edit) in case I'm not clear... not a refrigerator magnet.

A bottle opener?
Guineh

It does the opposite of a bottle opener: It keeps things closed.
Rumjungle

Bottle closer? Wait, that doesn't make any sense. It's a magnetic thing-keep-closed-er.:)
Man, I'm close, but just not gettin' it...and I have an image ready to go too.

One of those clips to keep chips or cereals fresh (sorry, I have no idea of the real name ;-) )
If I'm right, somebody else can have a go. I don't have anything ready and it's time to go to bed...
