Now that's interesting. The wole color changed with the larger view. That is something that I have not considered. Makes me say hmm.

Just a couple guesses as to why that happened. Its a diamond sharpener, so the specular reflections from the tiny pieces of diamond could have fooled the flash, or they refracted the light in such a way that it looked darker.

Not a shock absorber, but in a way a tensioner (actually compressioner) though, but that is kinda what a spring does in many applications.
