MAH got it! It is in fact a horse nose. But....which horse? LOL I just have to tell you how I got the shot though.

I decided that I wasn't going to let this one pass me up this time. So, I go out into the pasture at 2:30 in the morning last night with my daughter...in the rain and in the mud to catch on of my kids. They moved from one pasture to the other so we are traipsing around trying to get one of them! LOL I did finally get the shot, but I really wanted to give at least ONE HINT! LOL And it was GOING TO BE ... "It is found on the job site!"

Oh well. Congrats to MAH and hopefully I will do a better job next time!

[Edit] Oh Photobitz...it isn't disgusting, it is one of my sweet babies. There is nothing disgusting about 'em. ;-) Just so you know though, that "disgusting" part is just water and dirt.

I have to tell you a story about him...since you asked. ;-) Ziggy was a rescue. When we got him he was hungry and very bony. We couldn't even tell what kind of horse he was he was so thin. But, I brought him home and I promised him he would be king of the pasture forever and that he was home for good and I wouldn't ever get rid of him. So he is my King Baby out there and I just love him to pieces.

I'll pass it to bearleealive on account of my not being any good at coming up with subjects to take macro shots of for the game. I see a great macro lens in your kit, heck I don't even have one. Now you get your butt out there and find us a pic. Use your imagination (and think small). It is time to get good at coming up with subjects, some of the simplest things have stumped us here.

I don't have a pic ready and am at my computer bashing out an estimate that needs to get done right away so can't get out to get and process a picture.

27th of July 2006 (Thu), 18:35

Ahem... I am not the only member. Just the only member with my membership in my sig ;).

Springtails are litle tiny bugs that we like to shoot in the macro forum. They look like this:

http://static.flickr.com/46/144727348_625648f563_o.jpg

As for size, they are less than half a millimeter, so they are somewhat difficult to find. The above shot was taken at about 3:1 (one of my first reversed lens macros).

This does beg the question dear form....what DO you do for a living?

I know I know...it is an alien face mask that they wear here on earth to breathe!

Citizensmith

I should have got it quicker, I have to wear one at work occasionally so I have one sitting under my desk. :)

OK, lets try this.

Gas mask? (I think citizensmith said it first).

I had to check the online dictionary to see if respirator included a gas mask...and it does.

You're right, Citizensmith got it first.

Good one Citizensmith, you're up!

Guess my responses weren't fast enough..people jumped the gun on me. Not that they were wrong, or anything.

I KNOW I KNOW It's CHEESE!

Apologies, I read the post from AirBront and had it in my head the image was his. Sorry, didn't want to be rude, and I should have waited.

Oh, and don't rely on that respirator for anything aside from PM100 (large) dust particles. The ones sold all over the place in reaction to all the anthrax scares and such were crappy designs with no instructions for decent use. :)

I licked it to check. Nope, not cheese

Thanks for the info. Here's another reason why I wouldn't rely on that mask: The rubber is cracked from becoming brittle and dried.

Drats! So it is yellow. Is it plastic (?) and used on the job site?

I think we should rename this thread 20 questions ;-)

Yes, Yes.

I dunno, it never seems to go as far as 20 questions. :)

Umm, probably not a big deal but I just realised the item in question was upside down when I took the photo. Not sure if that helps in any way.

Well gee Citizensmith...the fact that it is upside down just messes everything up for me! :-D

Not much of one outside of work. I was out spending enough money on backpacking gear to have bought a real nice lens instead.

I do! My girlfriend and I walked to Steak-n-Shake (it was fun).

As far as the item, I can picture it, but I just can't name it. I think it's one of those ratchety-things where the yellow pieces act as grabbers or cinches, but I can't place the item (or maybe I'm just 100% wrong ;)).

Sorry for the delay. Kids at grandparents so wife and I have house to ourselves. Umm, nuff said.

Nope to everything so far.

Job site could include a photography job, and don't get hung up on the yellow, it comes in a wide range of colors. I'll post a wider shot in the AM if nobody gets close.

We are headed into Yoho National Park in British Columbia for 5 nights to do wome climbing, hiking, scrambling on glaciers, etc. Will be great, no phones or any kind of way of doing work, only having fun.

Here's a wider view of the current macro. Hope it doesn't make it to easy.

And this one is owned for work on a non photography job site. A lot of photographers own them too.
