Its the twisty grippy thing for securing a plug into a socket. Commonly found on equipement that is used outdoors or moved around alot, like attaching a GPS antenna to a control box or on some audio cables.

Not sure if that counts as a technical name but hopefully you can understand what I think it may be.

Coax connector, like BNC?

Coax/BNC yeah but not always, some of the cables I've had those connectors on are multi strand things. Thinking about it, they are also on the old Base-10 network cable connectors. Thats one common little connector there. :)

If its correct you take the next image, I've got none at the moment. Been too busy to be taking pictures.

CitizenSmith, Close enough! While i've only seen this one called BNC different sized connectors could be called different. And of course in a macro theres no size reference.

Since CitizenSmith passed, go for it Jeff.. :)

This one is a connector off of an antenna.

I design radio networks. Base-10 is coax. BNC connector refers to the type of coax or fiber optic connector that is the simple push and twist type instead of the screw on type or the push on tension type. I'll have an image up in a minute.

This only goes to prove that I suck at this game and need to try a lot harder or that I needed to go to bed and didn't want to keep the game waiting.

This is kindof close but I'm looking for something a little more specific. As in what is this a part of.
