This was me yesterday after I got the hair conditioner bottle:How annoying... I thought I'd copied a couple of macro shots onto my laptop, so that in the extremely unlikely event of me being sufficiently bored at work to play SMGG - and the even unliklier event of me guessing one right! - I'd have something to post. But it seems I forgot. It seems I never learn, because I forgot again when I got home last night.

Anyone else want to take a turn?

StewartR

a metal deviceI've already told you that.
is it some kind of metal cover for something. Not really. What you're seeing is the upper surface of something, and there is something underneath, but I wouldn't call this a cover.
coaster? to sit stuff on?Not a coaster, but you would put stuff on it.
Part of an uplighter that is turned off?Nope.

I'm off to bed. See you in the morning. SpiltPickle has the right idea... you just need to ask yourself why you would stand stuff on something that's metallic with holes in it.

the top of a gas burner on a stove? Not sure it really looks like that but maybe if its one of the old range stoves? Close... it is related to food and you would put something on it to keep warm.
Hot air registerI don't know what one of them is, so I think I'll have to say no.
lab burnerNo. It is a domestic device.
Part of a light boxNope. I don't have one of them.
a trivet to put hot pans onNot quite. It is related to food, but it performs a function subtly different from a trivet.
Im thinking if it were to have a flame there would be some burn marks,UNLESS of course you just so happened to crop an area where there arent any burn marks. And now Ive second guessed myself.A metal coaster? The other possibility would be that if th flames were so small that they marker the underside but not the top surface... Anyway, someone's already guessed a metal coaster previously.
a hot plate? cup warmer? usb coffee warmer? Is it electric??No, no, no, no. Hot plate is very close though. Well, actually I'm feeling generous so I'll say it's close enough. The device is a table-top food warmer, like you sometimes see in Chinese or Indian restaurants. Your turn, SpiltPickle.

I've sent a PM to SpiltPickle, telling him it's his turn. Hopefully that should minimise any delays.

(Question: Given how addictive SMGG can be, would it be a good idea to follow this practice generally? i.e. When someone guesses correctly, the person who set the piuzzle sends them a PM to let them know it's their turn. Or maybe we should just buy shares in IKEA.)

SpeakerI'll take that as "No, I wouldn't like to see a larger crop." But it is not a speaker. There are no moving parts in what you can see.

OK, here's a larger crop. I'm off to bed. See you in about 10.5 hours. (Sleep time + breakfast time + commute time...)

PS I think this a real giveaway now, so I'll be looking for an extremely precise answer.

Hmm, 5 hours to go before our current poster comes back and the one saved up macro I had is sitting on my thumb drive which I was dumb enough to leave on my desk at work.

Anyone got a filler macro we can work on while we wait? My computer chair has metal legs so I really don't feel like gnawing on them.

I just saw 'Flushed Away'. There's a part in there when one of the rats 'acts like a rat' and jumps under a chair and starts gnawing wildly on a chair leg.......

:)

Gimme couple minutes and I'll make a macro shot, I'm home now :)

Hmm, its definitely something that plugs into something else, and the little button on the side is one of the two release clips. I'm sure I've seen it somewhere.

How about a rechargeable battery?
