I thought about taking the 105mm and shooting the screw hole but that would only give you the screw hole this way you get the feeling of the whole thing.

Okay. This is not cropped (except for making it 1x1 aspect ratio). This is the full photo. It was shot with a 20D (a co-worker's), a Sigma 105 f/2.8 EX DG (mine), a Tamron AF 1.4 teleconverter, and a Canon EF 25 II extension tube. There is a vague hint hidden in this paragraph.
