It's obviously something to do with transistors, given the terminology. Part of a device (hey, this time we really can use that word!) to test transistors? Or maybe some sort of component that youi can insert into a circuit to emulate various types of transistor?
The think that's baffling me is how this part of the device is supposed to function. One the one hand it looks like it's supposed to rotate, albeit not without the aid of some sort of tool to insert into the prongs (so presumably not accidentally). But on the other hand there seems to be some sort of stop, against the "NPN" mark, that looks like it would prevent it rotating.
I am confused.
