Not a chair leg (or is it too much of a macro for the teethmarks to show), part of a couch, a gun, or a skillet.

The gun guess would be the closest but the connection is pretty tenuous.

Neither a paint brush or an easel. Not a handle, and not a piece of furniture.

The photo was taken indoors. When in use however its an outdoors item.

Citizensmith
15th of January 2007 (Mon), 19:47

So the item is not itself a weapon (no to crossbow, catapult, musket) but the specific version of this item is associated with 2 weapons. Thing is there are plenty of similar items that aren't associated with a weapon. Confused yet?

Citizensmith
16th of January 2007 (Tue), 08:05

That is not a macro, maybe you could let us know that much. I assumed the image size was less than an inch.I think it would be a good idea if people were to indicate approximately the size of the (portion of the) object in the photo. For example: "this view of the object measures about 3mm across".

What do you all think?

I always use macro shots but do list the crop size as a hint after a short while, or, like Steve says, if somebody asks.

scraps
16th of January 2007 (Tue), 17:44
I don't think the size of the object should be given away right off the bat; that's part of the thought process (for me anyway), is to look up what lense the shot was taken with and try and determine the size from there. Of course, I don't get very many correct.....

I don't have enough indoor light to get to f11, I used 5.0 wiht that and my flash. I usually shoot macro at night, I've gotta figure out a light box.
I usually just use an off camera cord with my flash and hand hold it out a bit for any inside work, that way I can use f11 no problem. You can even use a bright light (like a 500W halogen) on the subject, just watch for reflections. I do use a flash bracket set up at times, especially chasing bugs on a dreary day, but it does become a bit heavy and awkward even with it all mounted on my monopod.

Yay! I've got pesky calculus class to go to, but after that I'll have something.

Or, if someone wants to take my turn, that would be fine too.
