The Blue Sky adds a strong contrast to the image, which looks nice.
I looked at it in black and white.. and while the blue sky almost blends with the rocks into the background, it does have an interesting look. changes the way the whole image looks.

(there are lots of statues and stuff like this here in Germany, and it is sometimes difficult to get a really good shot of them.)
