Well, I'm not a fan of shots capturing people in mid-chew, so I'll comment on "almost real."
I really like it! I wish the bag wasn't in the shot, or the box thing at lower left, but your subject has a most interesting expression and I like the overall composition. There is a definite blue cast to the image (compare the color of the steps in the two shots) but it adds a coldness that seems fitting. Take out those two previously mentioned distractions and you've got a very good modern portrait.

Colin- I totally enjoy looking at your photos. very dark, I must say. I like "Almost Real." I think it would have looked really neat if you had shot going up the stair more. More on an angle, but everyone's eye is different, and either way, it's still a cool shot!

Thanks for all your encouraging comments. I took the shots at the cross in Chester. I had in mind to take a shot of a number of people watching buskers but my attention was drawn to the girl [real] so I snuck up on her catching her eating her meal. I have not had the nerve before but for the second shot [Almost real] I openly set the camera in front of her, she cooperated by dropping her hands, I took the shot and thanked her.
When I take pictures with the G3 in the TV mode, setting the shutter speed manually, I get blueness to the shot. It’s not a problem when it works out but is there an explanation for this?
I always enjoy looking at the galleries of any one who comments on my photos and that in its self is a learning experience.

I definitely like the second shot best Colin but getting the two pictures together does tell a bit of a story. I'd love to know more about her. Do you have any idea what she was doing sitting there dressed that way or was she one of the buskers?

She’s a complete stranger to me JamieAU. I was too uncomfortable to make her acquaintance any further after taking the photo so I guess she, and why she was there will stay a mystery

Great shot - I really like the way the coat lays on the steps.
