Some of the local stores here just quoted price. Its around 65,000 yen, not much difference as compared to canon 10-22 mm which is quoted around 67,000 yen.

I remember people mentioning price difference like $400 between Sigma & canon lense. can someone tell me where they looked at...

Thanks
PS: Sigma does comes with hood though.
EDIT: canon hood is quoted to be around $30, again, so overall price difference between two lenses counting hood is less then $100.

Thanks Tim.
For the first time I am witnessing a canon photography product cheaper here than in States !
AT B&H, sigma is a bit on higher side, while canon is cheaper here....

wow Raj, that make this lens only like $630 USD. Can you buy me one and ship it? LOL

Dante, I am getting one tonight/omorrow for myself. since the difference here is not much I would go for canon rather than sigma. With hood canon lens will cost me around 74,000 yen max. Not sure what is conversation rate today but at 1$=110 this lens will be $672 here.

if anyone needs any help on this or if it is cheaper for you guys I can ship it for you :-)

Raj:
Nither Adorama or B&H have the Sigma in stock yet. No one here has seen one or has any idea of delivery dates. Have you actually handled the Sigma?

I wonder if they are talking about the Sigma 12-24mm, that is inline with EF-S pricing for the 10-22mm?

...and the Canon is a tad faster too. Can't wait to see your shots taken with the new toy Raj! ;)

Yeah.. they are "APS" sized.. for Canon that means 1.6X crop like the 20D etc... foir Nikon it's 1.5X crop.

Guys, I am indeed talking about 10-20 mm sigma, however it is available at only one online dealer in Nagoya (far away from tokyo ) at the moment, which is curious as none of the other reputed local stores have quoted it yet.
I will call them today to find if they have sigma in stock or are just advertising price in advance. Will update you then.

By the way, I got my 10-22 mm canon yesterday. Man, this lense is awesome. I have upcoming trip to Moscow & I guess this will be my main lense in city :-). I havent done any shoots lately due to back problems (bad health) so really looking forward to test this baby :-)

BTW, is polarizer of great significance on a wide angle lense like this ? Does it adds good value like on regular lenses ? Please let me know. I got to get the hood also.

PS: I guess sigma will have a better build quality than canon, as it is rated EX. My 70-200 sigma is superbly constructed for example. Canon 10-22 is very well constructed too but it doesent gives a feel like L or EX series.
