Wow!

The fireworks themselves are ok, but the way you have framed them between the trees, got either the smoke, or smoke and people in the foreground to add atmosphere, and captured the fireworks with perfect timeing makes these very special shots!
Awsome job.

MitchellB that first is wonderful - there is a lot of shape and form in there - great capture.

Those are awesome shots! The first one is absolutely stunning.

As cfc said, 4th of july is comming up and I can't wait to shoot some fire works of my own!:) I'm curious though, with the really long shutters like, 13 and 14 sec, do you press the shutter release just as the fire works are fired? Or, release the shutter, fire works go off, explode get pretty, die out, shutter ends? And did you use manual focus? I imagine AF would be a pain in such darnkess.

Thanks!

i also want to know about the shutter sequence :)
i would image you just get a little before and after so you see them die down nicely..
but i am not sure since ive never done fireworks..
let us know ! :)

In multiple bursts, the shutter release point is practically "all of the above." From what I've read the time to release the shutter is when you hear the boom and hold it open for about the recommended times or until the burst dissipates. Everyone cautions this is not an exact science. Lots of variables.

BTW whatever system was used in these pictures sure does work well. It would be hard to argue with it.
