I've got a new EOS 7D since a couple of days, and i'm now looking for a fast cardreader which fits in my laptop.

Does anybody know a (web) retailer that still sells Cardbus CF cardreaders?

Are you after one for speed or convinience of use? I've tried this one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Startech-Media-Memory-Reader-Writer/dp/B001ODPGSI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1264943003&sr=8-1) and it was horribly slow. I'm waiting for Lexar to release its UDMA ExpressCard CF reader. But that's been 'coming soon' for months.

I'm looking for both :)

The card you mention seems to be a regular PCMCIA card, which indeed are horrible slow. I'm looking for a fast 'Cardbus' kind (lke this one : http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Lexar-CompactFlash-PC-CardBus-Adapter-Review.aspx) Cardbus cards are as fast as USB and Firewire.. but far more convinient with a laptop.

For some reason companys don't seem to offer cardbus cards anymore, just usb and some are offering expresscard cards (but my laptop doesnt' have that).

Try checking the "bargain bins" of larger camera stores. I picked up my second Lexar Cardbus reader that way at Penn Camera. My latest laptop doesn't do PC Card, just PCI Express, so if you feel like figuring out how to send me postage for about 4 oz. international I can send you one of mine. PM for address if you want to try that.

My Lexar Expresscard PCMCIA card was bought from Ebay..
Fair warning.. The expresscard doesn't have drivers for vista/windows 7 64 bit (as of now) I can only use it on my XP 32 bit laptop.
