So i have started a website for "Where's Nifty" and am looking for a good place to host the pictures from all of nifty's travels.

I am trying to look into the best possible ideas, but here are a few things i am looking for.

Unlimited photos
cheap or free
can be integrated with maps / geotagging
--- can have multiple accounts upload to one location???? is it possible without having to pay for a pro type account?
easy to integrate images on other websites like wordpress

anything else you guys can think of

--------------------------------------------

I know smugmug can do most of those things but i am just looking around to see what other ones are like. Maybe picasa but i dont know.

can you guys give me some suggestions?

if any of you guys are interested in helping, let me know!

All those things seem right up Flickr's street. Although I do hear some complaints about it's speed but have never experienced it myself.

Flickr. Free Account is 100MB of photos per month. Payed (Pro Version) is unlimited and well worth the price you're paying.

I would look into Picassa since it is run/owned by Google. With all Google's different applications like 'Google Latitude', it would offer the ease of geo-tagging and other things you might want to do. Also, Google is huge so compatibility with different regions wouldn't be a problem. I am not familiar with all the hosting sites, but I think it would be worth looking into Picassa.

One problem I had in the past (which is why I switched to flickr) is that google's policy does not include external linking to images. So sooner or later, any image posted on an external site will have it's link broken (to the image that is, I had it happen a few times here). They may have revised that policy since I last used picasa's online site.

I use fotki, I have not seen many other folks using it and it can certainly do most you are asking for with the exception of multiple accounts to 1 location, having said that it may be possible... I paid 50USD for 3 years unlimited account, although I think this may now be 60USD. The pro account allows you to design your customise your own page using CSS and HTML (not that I am any good at it mind). My webpage is linked in my sig and the main web site is www.fotki.com

Good Luck

I would rather see us use Picasa. I think the geo-tagging and the ability to see them on Google Earth would be nice. Here's their info on linking to the images.

well so far, picasa only has 1 vote on the website and zero votes here while flickr has 21 votes total. i am good for any way, and hoping that the feedback from members help. i would like picasa because i use a plugin that uses picasa very well.

That's good that they revised their policy, I got cheesed when I first started posting images else where and they'd just randomly stop showing. Good on them.
