After weeks of rain, the sun finally came out this weekend!..It was a glorious day on Sunday so we headed off down to the river.
These are of a cheeky Willy Wagtail..He seemed to like his pic being taken. He was showing off for me :)

Australian Magpie..I have a soft spot for these birds, they are one of my favourites. I handreared one and had her for many years, she passed away last year:( ..Gorgeous birds :)
This is the male, he wasn't too scared of us, the female kept her distance, I got shots of her but not very good ones. I noticed that both had rings on their legs. Not sure why, maybe they are being studied? or have been rehabilitated and released?

I hope this is OK, putting all these pics on one thread?..Let me know otherwise. I have fast connection, so I tend to forget what dial up was like. I hope by splitting them up through the thread, that they will load OK?
These guys are Corellas. Also known as Little Corallas or Western Corellas. They are quite the clowns. I have one at home. These were taken at the Swan River Caversham, there are hundreds of these birds there. Many locals consider them pests but I love them. They are not usually this dirty. I would say all the rains and the mud everywhere is the reason why they aren't their usual clean white selves :)

Looks like you succeeded in getting a decent pic of the Willy Wagtail :-) . Just noticed the last two corella pics. They didn't load for me last time. They are great, nice and close.
Is this the photo ?

That's the one. I remember thinking at the time that I had been trying to get a decent shot of one myself. Those shots are fantastic!

While I have given up trying to take bird pictures, I certainly enjoyed all the ones you posted here! You want to to give me some tips on how to get them this nice?

One day I hope to find another willy wagtail that is that cooperative, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm after some wrens now, and I know they;re going to be difficult :-)!

Thanks Maureen, I was lucky this day, the birds were posing and made it easy for me.
Steve, I have a friend who has taken a few very nice wren and robin shots but she won't post here!. Maybe she will let me post them for her. She is lucky, they come right up to her back fence, she lives on property :)

They'd be good to see. The wrens here sit in oleander trees and jump back and forth in and out of view, and if you get too close they all fly off...and you do need to get real close with a 300mm lens.
