Second in a series of black and white images that I'm making for our downtown hospital to promote "skin-to-skin" contact in the first few hours and days of life.

what was your SS?

I think 1/125. Fast enough for whatever action would happen with a newborn but slow enough to let in a little ambient so the background didn't go totally black.

Lovely series--intimate without being goofy or sappy--I know you know what I mean :) I really love the last one--so calm.

Really awesome work, Hoff! But who's the guy in the shots? He doesn't look like you at all (you == the guy in the avatar, right?)...

/me ducks and runs...

Hoff, this whole project is so simply beautiful :) I really love these shots. That first kangaroo care session is amazing, and these are going to make all the new parents want to embrace that and remember it forever.

If I'm the father of that baby, I've forgotten more than I care to remember...

Thanks, SC! I can't wait for my next session. It should be any hour now...

Love them!!!

What a daft thing to have to promote though isn't? I mean what feels better than naked baby against your chest??? I tell ya I went weeks like that, best feeling ever, too bad at some point they get bored of it

Who needs clothes when you got a warm baby? See it saves money, maybe they should try that angle!

Anyway, enough rambles, truly lovely pics

Very nice, Alex! If I had to pick a fave, I'd go with 3.

You might want to clone the nubbin from the mom's armpit in 2.

You would think that anyone in their right mind would have that mindset. However today as I was walking during lunch I heard a new mother talking to some other women about how gross it was that the doctor asked her if she wanted to touch her baby right after it was born. For pete's sake... I know they are all gooey and stuff but really, ever heard of a shower? Some people...

Back on topic - these photos are really wonderful, they feel very intimate yet not overly so.

I wouldn't go cloning out any "nubbin" or whatever it was someone called that little skin tag. People don't need to look perfect to breastfeed.
