Here is another photo from this set. The first two were not uploaded under the best conditions so that the quality displayed is much less than the actually quality of the photo. Hopefully this one is a bit better in terms of IQ.

Thanks in advance for any C&C.

Hi Rhomsy
First of all, you child is beautiful! Seriously.
C&C: #1 great expression, colors look almost dated though like film from the 60's, not sure why--I actually find it interesting that way, but I'm dated myself, :)
#2 Another great expression captured but I don't like tilted photos--that's just me (or me and others that don't like them--it's a hit or miss thing with most folks) Love the smile though!
#3 Sort of sad expression but maybe not to someone who knows him/her. Sometimes a family shot with this kind of expression is priceless as you know what it means and that's hard to know for sure as an unknown observer. The clarity is there, almost too much. Babies' skin show every little color vein etc so sometimes it's better to let them be a little softened, yet you want the water sharpness so it's a conflict. Try to focus (spot focus if you're not already) on the eyes so they are very sharp and then let the skin be a little less sharp. This baby has beautiful eyes so emphasize them when you can.

Overall--you've got the expressions going very well--coloring is nice. Keep shooting and choosing what you like and posting.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Nanboh.

Come to think of it, that first photo does have a 60's color thing going on. I think it has that retro feel because of the color of the pastel blue wall, his skin tone, his expression, the color of his hair and the way he has it combed. I think you convinced me to order a large print of this for my office :)

What do you mean by spot focus?

#1 would be good if his eyes were in focus

Should I not be using the center focus point?

Center is good, but it would be nice if the whole face was in focus. What is the first thing you look at when you look at a baby picture? Most likely the eyes.

Using center focus is Fine But the Short DOF you need to have the Center on the Bridge of the nose, This looks like the Center of Focus is on the Forehead. You may want a Deeper DOF by Closing the Aperture!
