Call your dealer and ask them what they recommend.

If you mean the 18-55, I also have that one. While it's certainly a cheapie get ya goin' type lens, I found it to be better than I expected.
I was in South Carolina last December and went to the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. The USS Yorktown is there, and the only lens I had that would go wide enough to get some shots of the carrier was the 18-55. The pics came out fine.

The way I read it, there's something on the inside of their lens, and they want to know what to do about it. It's certianly not clear.

Go easy folks. You should hear my german, which I claim to speak... He has a new 20D with the kit lens and it has some sort of particulates on the interior of the lens. If that is the case and it is 3 weeks old, take it back. If they won't take it back, call your credit card carrier. If you still can't work something out, call canon. Other than trying to take it apart (not recommended), those are your options. Otherwise, the kit lens works fine at the short focal length end, especially if you stop it down a bit.

His avatar says he's from Texas, he bought the camera in Dallas, last I heard they still speak english there even it it is "southern English" ...... even so having grown up in Southern Oklahoma I'd probably be able to understand it. :)

People really need to be able to communicate if they expect to get someone to help them. Particularly when posting on a computer forum.

As you know, many people speak many languages in the US, especially spanish in texas for example. I have many friends from many countries, and with a patient ear I learn a lot from them. When I attempt to speak a language other than my native english, I need gentle correction, not criticism. Its how I hope you all will treat my photographs, getting back to the subject of these forums.

Believe it or not there are several very large German communities in Texas.....and probably several Spanish communities too. I speak neither.

Sounds like the lens has crap in the barrel between the elements. I'd see about taking it back if that is the case.

Well, that may be true, but English IS the language of the U.S. and he's not communicating, if he's not communicating he needs to know it. Ignoring it by having a "patient ear" does little good towards helping with whatever he is asking about. The point is to communicate your needs and in this case it's not working very well as not only I observed.

Actually while English is the most common language in the US, there is no official language.

http://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_lang.html

It's a very controversial and divisive issue and it may change at some point but at least at the moment English is not the official language of the US. Some states have english designated as the official language, largely a symbolic gesture, but texas is not one of them.

This is now VERY off topic, so now we return to your regularly scheduled programming...

Right, it's just the DE-FACTO language. I NEVER SAID it was the Official Language. The point is the poster is NOT COMMUNICATING. You've taken this even further off topic.

The Texas Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the state of Texas rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, the government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would be known as "Texas-English".

In the first year, 's' will replace the soft 'c'. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard 'c' will be dropped in favor of the 'k'. This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome 'ph' will be replased with the 'f'. This will make words like 'fotograf' 20% shorter!

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expected to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double leters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent 'e' in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing 'th' with 'z' and 'w' wiz 'v'. During ze fifz year ze unesesary 'o' kan be dropd from vords kontaining 'ou' and similar changes vud of kurs be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.
