Did you use a card reader and copy the files? DSLRs weren't made to work like firewire cameras

No I tried to capture straight from the camera or tried to load files that was downloaded on to the PC no joy, is there a way round it.

Not making much sense there. Are the files on your computer?

Try this then, take your file, and re-encode just the audio (to mp3 or aac). Then remux into an MP4. I personally like megui, but it hasn't been updated in quite a while (but it'll still do exactly what you need it to) and not exactly the most user friendly one out there. A lot of programs don't like LPCM audio used by canon, so re-encode it and should work.

I have Pinnacle Studio 14. No problems loading the videos, but editing and saving have major issues. This program has crashed my computer dozens of times, but if I keep fighting at it, I can eventually get working, edited videos. I have a capable quad core PC. I'm not sure what's going wrong...

Sounds like bad memory... try running diagnostics like memtestx86

I use Pinnacle 11 at work and it reads files just fine. Agree with basroil. Free up some memory-Delete old imported video, etc. that you don't need anymore. I have had that happen and it does freeze up. If that doesn't work, call or e-mail Pinnacle and perhaps they can help answer your questions. Good luck!

You're talking about disk space (rarely the cause of software issues unless the disk is corrupted, then any level of deletion isn't going to help), I'm talking about actual physical memory (RAM). If memtest shows errors, only thing that can help is to buy new ram.
