I have the v 2.0 firmware update for the 20D on my PC harddrive, but am ubable to copy it to the CF card in the attached Canon 20D. I can open the connection and see the CF area but any attempt to move the firmware to the card is not "allowed". What am I doing wrong? THX in advance.

I used a card reader and copied it that way.

I believe there are instructions on the canon website that you should follow if you don't use a card reader.

You can't do it that way. I tried just to test it. It has to be put on the card with a card reader.

Thanks, all. A card reader it shall be. An interesting side note. When I connect my old Nikon 5000 with a CF card to my PC I AM able to directly copy the Canon firmware to the card. I can then follow the usual procedure for installing on the 20D Hmmm...

Interesting about the Nikon. I think it's something in the Canon firmware that won't let you do it. I couldn't believe it wasn't possible to do it that way (I did it with my HP's built-in card reader) but had to try it through the USB and was amazed when it didn't work.
