A few months ago I bought a box of Costco ink jet photo paper. At first I thought for the price it was a great deal. I have had about 15 prints (not under glass) hanging on the wall in my den where the sunlight will hit them each day. Yesterday all the prints on the COSTCO paper were so badly faded I had to take them down. Mixed in with those prints were some done on Kodak paper....................no fading AT ALL!!!!!! I guess it just shows you get what you pay for. I'l sure be glad when I get a new EPSON 1800 or the 800.

Even with great papers it's recommended that you don't hang them in direct sunlight.

I use the Kirkland brand paper w/ my Epson paper and haven't had any problem, but then again I don't leave them out in the sun. UV light will fade almost any thing Just check out your car's paint and that has UV inhibitors.

The Costco paper was right next to the Kodak paper. They both got the same sunlight.

it will explain why I use Kodak paper over Canon paper.

Two questions I have is what printer did you use and what kind of Kodak paper (plain photo, premium photo, Ultima, or professional (I am guessing premium, if next to Costco paper))?

As mentioned in my post linked above the only problem with Kodak Ultima paper is the resin coating broke down in the back of the car window test before fading occurred. It is the resin coating or the layer below it which significantly cuts down on UV breakdown and outgassing of dye based inks. big improvement over cheaper papers.
