A40 Shutter problems

I have an A40 which has just started exhibiting the following problems. When taking a photo and pressing the shutter button it has started to (a) take 5-10 seconds to take the photo (b) doesn't take the photo at all, you can press the shutter button all you like but nothing happens.

Any ideas as to what is happening?

All I can say is, my guess is that it sounds like it needs to be brought in for repair, or replacement. :(
