What a load of arse. The seller clearly doesn't understand lenses very well.

it looks like he made it himself. His sample pics really suck too.

The 'nifty fifty' would still beat that lens if you put scotch tape all over the front element.

my favorite part:
With a super fast f 1.1 aperture, it is 3 times faster than human eye!!! Great for hand-held floral pictures.

This lens can only be used in close-up photography (1/2 life size) without focus ring. In other words, you can't use this lens for anything else except for close-up. However, for close-up/macro works you will want to step down as much as possible to get more dof. Thus, you would not be able to use at 1.1 in most situations.........a piece of junk IMHO.

How to make your nifty fifty a instant L...

http://home.pacbell.net/coolbit/100mm.jpg

Now a 100mm F0.9. How so? It's light vacuum, baby! It double your folcal length and twice the light gathering ability. The bokeh on this combo will blow you away.

You can have this dream lens for a low price of $49.95. Look at that red stripe, Isn't it a thing of beauty? ;)

It's an interesting lens but as Leorooster says ,totally useless because of the depth of field issue.

Does anyone know why he's saying it's three times faster than the human eye?
Is this a know fact about the eye or simply a bad missinterpretation of a 50/1.8 lens being the same as the human eye?

I think some of you guys are a little uneducated on this subject... there is a small cult following for this type of conversion lens.. take a look at his recent auctions and feedback.. his customers love him and love his products.

I agree his sales tactics look a little odd,. but many people are actively seeking these lenses out and do know what they are buying.

A gent Named Blair Bunting used to collect and convert this type of lens... he posted here ages ago.. and more recently at FM where he sold many of these conversions.

It was all about super fast extremely narrow DOF and artsy fartsy experimental still lifes.

Not my cup of tea.. but interesting none the less.

Cinstance is an FMer as well...

I think the human eye is around f/2 f/2.5 depending on how open the iris is. :)

who me?

I once heard that the eye is 40,000 times more sensitive to light once it has adjusted to the dark.

I may be misquoting but thats the way I remember it.

The fixed f/1.1 has it's use.. however limited that use may be.. here's an example not as bad as the auction..

It for sure could be used in a way that would make interesting images...yes.

It just looks like an expensive gimmick though and a fixed f/1.1 almost seems like a joke...obviously it is not.

Mine was shipped out this morning. :)
