Did you get my email? I sent it yesterday...
I still can not get the PDF from the Epson site. For some reason it kills my browser when i try to download.

I really just need to know if I will be able to size the prints if I go directly to the Epson 2200. Also, I'm not sure if it will work with RAW images from the 300D...
I'm thinking that if I can get the 'perfect negative' so to speak, that if I travel i can forego a laptop with P-Shop and still produce prints. this is a LOT cheaper than a laptop computer, so I'm hoping it will fit my needs...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

i use a variety of different tools, depending on what i'm converting. basically, i convert movies to divx - make sure the video bit rate is over about 950k, otherwise it won't play. some files tend to look a bit better when they are xvid. using mp3 (lame, etc.) audio is much better than pcm (sizewise). the file needs to be less than 1 gig. i've had quite a few issues playing 3vix files, so i don't encode with it.

i don't normally use it for audio mp3s as i have a photo ipod, but i've played mp3s on it at many different bit rates.

edit: :o oops!! :o - wrong p2000 thread:???: ???

How-to: Charge an Epson P-2000 with Standard AA Batteries
Also works on the Sony Play Station Portable (PSP), Toshiba PPC's and other electronic devices.

Spare batteries for the Epson P-2000 cost $60 - $80, if you can find them. An alternative solution is to charge the Epson P-2000 using inexpensive AA rechargable batteries and a few off-the-shelf parts from Radio Shack. No soldering or electrical tape required! This external battery solution has enough power to charge the P-2000 two or three times.

Step 1: Purchase the following parts from Radio Shack (either online or from a local store): DescriptionPart NumberAA Battery Holder (4 batteries) (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=270-383) 270-3839V Battery Extension (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=273-1745) 270-1745Female-to-Female Adaptaplug Socket Cable (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=273-1740) 270-1740Adaptaplug B (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=273-1705) 270-1705

The total cost of the parts is about $17-$18. We will be using these parts for something different than their intended purpose. Consequently, the Radio Shack staff will probably not be much assistance with this.

Step 2: Connect the 9V Battery Extension (PN 273-1745) to the AA Battery Pack (PN 270-383). The Extension connects to the Battery Pack with a snap connector. This connector can only be connected one way, so there is no worry of connecting it backwards.

Step 3: Connect the Adaptaplug Socket Cable (PN 273-1740) to the 9V Battery Extenstion (PN 273-1745). Both of these cables have the word "Tip" written on one side. Make sure the words on both cables are on the same side.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/warfin/P2000/aa-battery3.jpg

Step 3: Connect the Adaptaplug B (PN 273-1705) to the Adaptaplug Socket Cable (PN 273-1740). The Adaptaplug B has a "-" sign on one side, and a "+" sign on the other. Make sure the "-" on the Adaptaplug B is aligned with the word "Tip" on the Socket Cable. If you have connected this correctly, the plug that connects to the Epson P-2000 should be facing away from the word "Tip."

Step 4: You are now ready to charge your Epson P-2000 using AA batteries. Connect the Adaptaplug B to the "DC IN 5V" jack on the Epson P-2000. The "Charge" light on the front of the P-2000 should light. This light will go out when charging is complete. Four 2400 mAh AA rechargable batteries have enough power to charge the Epson P-2000 more than 3 times.

This same setup can be used to charge the following additional devices: DeviceAdaptaplug ModelPart NumberSony Playstation Portable (PSP)B273-1705 (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=273-1705)Toshiba Pocket PC e735, e740, e745B273-1705 (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=273-1705)Vosonic VP-2160 Photo Storage DeviceH273-1711 (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=273-1711)Any electronic gadget that takes 5-volts of input power can be charged or powered, with the appropriate Adaptaplug power connector, using this 4-AA battery setup.

P-2000 Battery on the Cheap

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/warfin/P2000/aa-battery5.jpg

If you know your way around a soldering iron and the difference between positive and negative on a battery, you can make the same Epson P-2000 setup for a few bucks less. Here is the parts list: DescriptionPart NumberAA Battery Holder (4 batteries) (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=270-383) 270-3839V Battery Snap Connectors - Pkg of 5 (only 1 is required) (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=270-325) 270-17454mm Plug - Pkg of 2 (only 1 is required) (http://www.radioshack.com/search.asp?find=274-1532) 270-1740

If you are going this route, you probably already know how to put it together. Just note: the center post on the plug is positive and the larger outside post is negative.
AA/AAA Battery Charger and Batteries

Though I recommend purchasing the parts from Radio Shack, I found their selection of AA battery chargers limited. They only have one model that supports 110-volt 60 Hz power and 240-volt 50 Hz overseas power, and that model only charges two batteries at a time.

I tested several chargers from Fry's Electronics, and the model I finally settled on is the Syntech Super Fast Charger, available here:

http://shop4.outpost.com/product/4011572 (http://shop4.outpost.com/product/4011572)

This charger is a good value at $15 plus shipping. It has the following features:

Supports overseas power.
Uses the same power cable as the P-2000 charger and many other electronic devices.
Charges AA, AAA, and 9-volt batteries.
Charges four 2400 mAh AA batteries in about 2-hours.

AA and AAA rechargable batteries have gotten quite good. Two years ago, the best AA rechargable batteries I could find were 1400 mAh. At 2400 mAh or better, today's current crop of batteries are 60% more powerful. I finally settled on these from Fry's Electronics:
