Here are a couple of recent shots. One is the old Crystal Mill near Marble, at the end of a six mile jeep trail...rough but worth it. The second was taken at Lake Irwin, near Crested Butte.

And I also like the way you use the road in the 2nd pic to lead the eye into the rest of the picture - an oldie but a goodie ;)

Love the first one, but I'm biased towards old buildings/farms/barns... :)

Great shots, Stan. I've seen many pictures (and a real life view, too) of the old Crystal Mill - but never with such a pretty rainbow!

Wow... I really like the 2nd one. That was taken with your EF-S 10-22 right? Love the color and the mountains in the background. The sky has just the right amount of clouds... looks like it was a beautiful day out. Man... that photo could make a great desktop.

Wow, you folks are too kind. Both shots were taken with the 10-22 (I'm still loving that lens, worth every penny to me) and a polarizing filter. The sun is so bright here, without the polarizer, skies are way overexposed. With it, I save the clouds, get dark blue skies, and I can light the foreground in PS. We were just lucky to get the rainbow at the mill, although I suspect it's there regularly on sunny afternoons. There are so many beautiful scenes around here, I'll never post them all.

That's not a mill, it's the old powerhouse, but no matter, it's a beautiful spot and a beautiful shot. Did you go on into Crystal?

Both are great shots Stan. I actually prefer the second. As mentioned, the road as a lead-in is fantastic, along with the colors. Really well done.

Two beautiful looking shots Stan with very nice color and detail. I like the angle of the second one, makes me feel like Im leaning a little to the left.

I know it's not a mill, but Crystal powerhouse just doesn't have the right ring to it. Yes, we went into Crystal, a most interesting place.

I'm amazed to see this thread resurrected after more than a year.

Wow, Stan, I never got to see this one. The second picture is beautiful. When I first looked at it, I thought it was a bit tilted, but then I noticed the trees were nice and straight. That road must have a pretty good lean to it! :-)

Thanks, Jim. I think the road is level, but the illusion of tilting left is due to my standing on the side of the road on ground that is higher than the road. The 10-22 lens probably increases the effect.

And it is very unreal up there in the sky. :) Perspective is very weird.

Wow, I'm very impresed with that second pic.
Excellent, so crisp and pristine. The US sure has some beautiful scenery.
