Here are some photos take on the week-end at a local club meeting. All the photos are taken with the Canon EOS 10D with the Canon EF 300 f/2.8. The first two are at 300mm and the last three are at 600mm. I put the Canon 2x MkII teleconverter on for the last three. :D

Fine! The lens is still very fast at 5.6.

Hey Chris
Do you ever take photos of bikes out at QR?
I'm out there a bit covering some trackdays for Champions Ride Days and some race meets whenever I have some spare time.
If you're ever out there I wouldn't mind sharing some secrets with you for a play with that glass. :D
Do you have a 1.4x TC as well, or just the 2x?
Looks like those shots were taken just before and just after the first apex of turn 3.

I usually just shoot State Championship rounds and V8 Supercars as I don't get a lot of time to go out to QR.

I only have the 2x, maybe in time I will consider the 1.4x.
I like your website, very nice layout!

Thanks for the comments on our site, I will let my business partner know, he built it for us.
When I'm paid to shoot motorsport, I would never try shooting with a 2x, it just slows the lens and AF too much. 1 stop and 1.4x is as [s]low as I can go.
That said, because I don't have any decent long glass myself yet, I have to borrow a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 w/ 1.4x TC, and that's painful enough. I still manage to fluke it every once (http://www.eventphotos.com.au/albums/qr270505/IMG_6921.jpg) in a while (http://www.eventphotos.com.au/albums/qr270505/IMG_9048.jpg) though. ;)
Eventually I will just bite the bullet and get a 300 f2.8 and a 1.4x TC.

Very nice shots! The 2X does better than I'd expected.
