I was not sure where to post this thread, so I have placed it here. My apologies if it’s in the wrong forum.

I recently purchased a Canon LV 7370 digital projector and I was wondering how to go about calibrating it. I calibrate all of my computer monitors, even the laptop I use to attach the projector to. I run it (the projector) off the external VGA port on the back of laptop. However I am sure that the images that are being projected through the projector onto the screen are not the same color, brightness and contrast that the laptops display are. I was wondering since the projector is attached to the external VGA port, and since the projector has a monitor out port, if I can calibrate it by attaching an LCD monitor to the projectors VGA-out port and use my ColorVision Spyder to tweak adjust it that way?

When I go into the display properties, there are two monitors. One is the laptops default (#1) display and the other of course is the external VGA display (#2). Will this work, or does anyone have any suggestions or know of a product that can be purchased to make sure that the images are color correct?

There are calibrators for projectors that work similar to the ones used on monitors.

You cannot calibrate the projector by hooking some other monitor to the port because part of what the calibrator needs to adjust is the white balance of the bulb in that specific piece of hardware.

Digital projectors, apart from some verrrrrry expensive ones, are quite poor at reproducing certain colors. I would consider it to be largely a waste of effort to really balance the reproduction of all hues!
