THIS IS KILLING ME!!!

I was so extremely happy until now!

I first noticed an issue with the loss of the ability to chose my focus points in "P mode" (retained in Tv and Av modes) and then whilst trying to figure out the problem I would find that the screen would simply just shut off seconds after pressing "menu".

As it is right now it seems that all is fine and dandy in Tv Av and M modes, even the screen stays on in those modes and the camera behaves normally.

It would seem that in P mode the camera just goes nuts!.....won't allow me to chose my focus points and the screen just shuts off very shortly after being turned on!

I've done a search but this seems to be a different problem....

HELP!

It currently has firmware version 1.1.0 I might try version 2.0 but according to canon, this isn't a fix for that :(

guys?

I might add that i first noticed the loss of the ability to chose my focal points when I used a sigma 1.4x TC for teh first time last night.

Update....

The firmware upgrade has done nothing to help my situation :(

Fingers crossed someone out there has had a similar experience.

That is an odd problem, can't say that i have ever read anything on this forum or anywhere on the internet similar to this.

Hope it all works out for you.

Just wanted to give this one last bump, in case someone out there somewhere has had a similar problem.
It is in with canon now but I would like to hear anything about this or similar problems. The camera only just turned 1 month old and now its gone :'( i feel naked and empty on the inside.

ok so not THAT bad but I certainly do want it back!!!!

I believe that teleconverters cannot use AF. Has your problem only been with the teleconverter on? If so take it off and put a Canon lens on and see if they reappear.

My 1.4 TC works just great in AF on both my 1Ds and 1DmkII.:)

Hellashot, that isn't the problem the AF works fine with the TC + my 70-200 f2.8 sigma and the problem was still there once I had removed it.
I'm starting to think that it has somethign to do with the mode selector dial, as it works fine in any other setting. Just goes nuts in P mode.

Canon have it now and I will post up what they have to say once I hear from them....which is probably atleast 2 weeks.
