I actually have several underwater housings & cameras, one of them being the G10. My problem is how to wet-attach a red filter. Has anyone done this, successfully? Why on earth don't they provide a thread or some other form of attachment?

You need a different housing. The Ikelite housing has a 67mm thread built in and can accept several underwater filters directly.

I own the Canon housings for both a G7 and G9 and find them to be quite good, if basic housings. No frills and no ability to add external camera-controlled flashes. You can add an external flash, but it needs to be externally controlled. But for less than 1/3 the cost, it is still a good value.

Yes, but it would be such a cheap addition to put a thread on the metal bit at the end. I'm inclined to take it off and do it myself, though I don't know what size it would be.
