Just ordered a 20D as an upgrade from my D30. I was really torn between the 10D and 20D. Please tell me I made a good choice!?

I would have said go with the 350D and use the extra money to buy upgrades for it, ex grip, maybe new memory card or lenses.

Good choice ... I'd do the same if I'd outgrown my 300D.

I say go with the 20D. I use the 20D and the XT everysingle day at work. Specs-wise, they "seems" close, but camera handling, the 20D is just a much more better camera to work with.
Its better to have a better foundation (body) for your lenses, because u can always get better lenses in the future, cause useully when i buy a body, i like to keep it for along time.

Good choice....I just made the same. I ordered a 20D with a 70-200 f4.0 L lens from B&H. It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow....I can't wait.

I haven’t looked back since I did, could not stand the plastic build and slow switch on time for the 300D

I just received my 20D yesterday. I bought it online from Ritz. $1349.00 with the $100.00 rebate. My net cost will be $1249.00. They had free shipping and didn't charge any tax.
The 20D will replace one of my ailing 10D's. In last nights shoot in the usuall low lights of the local baseball diamond, the noise factor was so much better than the 10D at 1600ISO it wasn't funny. Major upgrade. Worth every penny thus far.

I went from a Nikon D2H to the 20D in a complete system switch and haven't regretted it once. The only thing I'm wanting now is a second 20D body!
You'll be very happy with your choice.

Either would have been a good choice. You had a D30, so knew what made a difference to you and made a decision. Out of interest, what was the critical deciding factor for you? (to help others who have to make that decision).

I have orderd, just now, a 20D, 50 1.4, 2 CF 1 Gig cards. I want to thank this group for all their opinions over the last couple of months (mostley lurker). I am certain that what I buy over the next couple of months will add up to a much better system than would otherwise be the case. Thanks again. George :D

I found the D30 to be lacking in high ISO mode. Shadow areas that I wanted to brighten up in PS showed excessive noise. Plus I figured, 3 generations of sensor technology ought to give me better image altogether.

If and when I decide to upgrade from the 300D, it'll be to the 20D. I just don't see any benefit, for me, to go for anything more than that. Hopefully, if and when I do decide to upgrade, there will already be a "replacement" for the 20D, thereby resulting in lower prices n the 20D.
Oh, to dream...

The 20D is a great camera. It's my first digital SLR and even though I'm still learning I love my 20D.

I had a real tough time telling myself to buy the 20D especially if the 350D gives you same image quality at 60% the price. But I held it in my hand and it didn't feel comfortable. I sure hope being comfortable is worth $400! :(

Enjoy the 20D. I'd get a second one in exchange for my 300D, but no one is selling

I have the 350d and I love it. I am "relearning" photography after 15 years or so. The features on modern cameras are amazing (even entry level models). My main gripe with the 350d is ergonomics. My old Pentax cameras fitted me like a glove- holding the 350d (with the flash attached particularly) is taking some time to get used to. (A bit like holding a house brick!) Many here have written about the battery grip- I'll be giving that a try soon...
I'll get some nice lenses soon and maybe the 20d later if I feel I need the extra features...

feeling good in you hands is very important - you just want the camera to be an extension of your eye and you do not want to be mucking about wth controls etc a) you will miss the shoot and b)if people they will become unimpressed and you will again miss the shot.
now watch the bank manager cring as you start to look at that really nice L glass
