Given the interest in this post (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=788756) and the number of members ordering & reading John Harrington's Best Business Practices for Photographers (http://www.amazon.com/Best-Business-Practices-Photographers-Second/dp/1435454294/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265427358&sr=8-1) I thought it might be interesting in sharing what changes we're making to our business practices.
What changes have you made (or are thinking of making) that have been influenced by this book or other business publications or media?
I'm half way through the book but I know I need to rethink my pricing. For the most part, I don't price on a per hour basis for most types of jobs but I haven't revisited my pricing in probably a year. Given the rare push back on my quotes I was beginning to think I was underpricing myself so it's time to take a good look at this for my business. In the past I have done the CODB calculator but not with much thought of growing my business; this will be step one for me.
I'm currently enrolled with Tyler Garns' "OverExposure" program, and although I unfortunately don't have the time I thought I'd have to keep up with the program the content is specific and pertinent to gaining more exposure for your photography business over the net. I hope to work my way through the program as time permits and Tyler did a great job of developing the program materials so implementing the program at my own pace is possible. I highly suggest subscribing to Tyler's blog at ThinkBigArt.com (http://www.thinkbigart.com/blog/)
What changes have you implemented to your business, and have they made an impact? Any success stories out there? Let's hear them.
