I just want to know...as i've heard some people don't which i guess makes it more appealing when it comes to selling their kit as it's still unregistered.
Are there any benefits to registering with Canon?

Why not? You get the firmware updates emailed to you.

When I registered my 10D with Canon (online) a short while later I recieved a questionaire from them (or from a marketing company for them). Said if I filled out the quetionaire I'd recieve a free 92mb CF card.
Took a little while to get the card and I had forgotten it was coming but I did get it.
I also registered all my lenses and other equipment as well. Figure if it ever gets stolen or lost there might be a chance that I could get it back someday. At least a better chance than keeping the numbers on a scrap of paper in my desk draw.

I registered my 20D on the 25th of June. I did not see any offers for free CF cards ? did I miss something?

SN for lenses is on the body/lens interface or on the box.

I register everything...Why not? It's mine! I See nothing but advantages and no disadvantages in registering. On line it only takes a few minutes.

The only thing (as far as I know) that goes down in price slightly once you register it, is software - especially in these days of activation, etc. Even then, though, I register everything (and even buying my hardware secondhand, none of it has been registered previously) - after all I've spent my hard earned money on it, and as johneo says - if the unthinkable happens, and it gets lost or stolen, you have the serial numbers for the police / insurance company.

It depends on if it would have been under warranty or not. It is a lot easier to register the product and then have a warranty claim as opposed to hoping that you can find the documentation on when you purchased it.

Does anyone have the link to register and get a free CF card? Is it only open to US owners?

I've had my 20D since October, but might consider registering online if I could at least get like a 512mb CF card or something :p

Most of the manufacture's will want you to register in order to handle warranty work. If you have all the paperwork then you can probably still register and get the warranty work.

Daya, if you purchased your 20D in the UK there should have been a sticker on the box with details for claiming a free Sandisk 250MB CF Card, and you should also of had a voucher booklet inside the box for £625 cashback on selected Lens and accessories. This offer is for the purchase and register of a new 350D and 20D at www.cig.canon-europe.com/reg between the 16th March and 31st December 2005 for the free card

I see for sale ads often have "unregistered" and unfilled warranty cards listed as a selling point... Then somewhere it is noted that the box has had something cut from it for a rebate...
Rebate info? Your name, address, serial number, date and place and proof of purchase...
Not registered? Indeed...

I registered mine 20D and also take advantage of the 256mb cf offer. Four days later, the mail came with a brand new spanking CF in it, i was so happy.
