There is an abundance of abandoned farmhouses scattered across central kentucky. I went out the other day for just a few hours and found these. What do you think?

I actually got permission to got through this house and got a little history from the property owner. The last family to live here raised 8 kids and the offspring come back ever year for a reunion with their children.

This last place was obviously a stately home in its day, its hard to imagine letting this place get into the shape which it currently exists.

Good pictures. Sad to see houses like that, especially the big one with the nice columns. Christian

I really like these. It's hard to find run down, abandoned houses like this where I live (which I suppose is a good thing) so I'll have to live vicariously through you and your shots. ;) I'm actually dying to see some of these exteriors done as long, night time exposures. I imagine you'd get some very moody (creepy) images as a result. At any rate, nice job.

PS - is it just me, or is your horizon a little askew in #6?

thanks guys!
yes horizon is off some on 6. I took these rather quickly as it was getting dark and I was trying to watch out for mister farmer come after me. also no pp on any of them.
a long exposure would be pretty sweet on either the 2nd or 3rd house...once it warms up a little.

These types of photos scream HDR, no?

Great series. Amazing that people just walk away from a home, but I suppose there are compelling reasons. In the case of that once-stately home, maintenance could have been a huge cost.

Very cool I have a whole group that would love to go into the one you had permission to go into.

Love number 8 with those columns you can easily see what the house must have looked like in it's glory days.

Love the second house. Most of them look a little off on the horizon, but all do look like you rushed to get each shot.......which you verified.

I live in central Kentucky also. Care to share the locations of these places? I would love to explore them this spring and summer!

There used to be the most beautiful abandoned house in between Lexington and Winchester, but they tore it down this past year.

Beautiful, abandoned derelict buildings are so beautiful yet somewhat shame they've gone to waste by mothernature.

The property owner was really cool but reserved, I dont know if they would be cool with a lot of people coming around to snap shots. If I get to know them better we can see what works out.
