Flare and diffraction

Two pictures using the flare and diffraction as part of the photo, WARNING, to those who wish to try this effect it is dangerous to the eyes to take this type of picture without using some form of protection to the eye, i used a grad grey filter and used Strong tinted sunglasses glasses to view and focus

Love the second one, vary dramatic, camera and lens seem to have coped well with that powerful straight into the sun shot. well done.

Lots of people on here are always testing their lenses shooting all sorts of different things.
I recall several years ago a local photographer who always used Leica equipment and his favorit type of pictures were into the sun (Contre Jour) or against the light, if you have a lens that still performs well in this type of shot , its a bonus, as your pushing your kit to the extremes.

Thanks, if you go onto my website you will see that i tend also to shot most of my landscapes into the sun, not always directly but with the sun in front, the pictures always end up more dramatic, with the sun behind there flat, since purcashing the 17~40L zoom and stopping down to smal aps its a wonderful lens and does very well when pushed to these extremes, the more i use it the more confident i get
knowing it will deliver what i am after, well worth the money

Just had a look at your website, some lovely images on there well done.
yes lots of great into the light pics.
sad about the burnt out cars its not just down here in Wales then ? a sort of pictorial element we could do without.
loved the Royalty pub pic and Garnets mill and one taken fromold lane Branhope , close ups vary good, well done,
Have you ever thought of doing a distinction of RPS some good Associateship /Fellowship stuff on your site.
Just out of interest I shoot with the same kit as you, with far to much L glass if thats possible a 1D mk 2 and D 600 back up, also use one sigma a 14 mm f2.8 , with the sort of sky shots you have it would be great, although I tend to take 17 to 40 & 28to 70 mostly.
