Okay, so I think I have a pretty good idea of where this is gonna' go, but what the Hell...

I've had my eye on some new lenses lately ("My, Steve, how unusual"). The obvious factor is garnering up the required funds in a manner which does not upset the wife.

I've been looking at, primarily, the 70-200mm f/4L and the 17-40mm f/4L, although there certainly are others that pique my interest.

My question is this: Should I sacrifice the 70-300mm QCL (Quantary Cheese Lens) to the eBay gods and put the funds towards the 70-200mm? I figure if I need the extra reach I'm lacking in the 300mm, I can go for a converter and just have a big ol' time. Sound reasoning?

Others I've been considering is the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (when it's available), and the Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 (although it's a tad spendy).

Just thinkin' out loud. Appreciate any comments...

Steve

To me, it sounds reasonable. I do not know the QCL personally but I know from experience that the L's have incredible performances. Not that an L lens makes a great photograper, we all know that, and I am not even close to be an amateur one. But what the heck...

Yes. Sell it. I sold all of my old lenses from my film SLR days and bought the gear in my sig. Well, I had to pay the difference.
