No pun intended. Just found out about 2 hrs ago, trying to make a good photo out of it, but not working. Tryed setting a regular house light straight above it. What could I have done to make this look better?

The white balance is off so if you shoot in RAW (or reshoot in RAW) you will be able to fix it. Otherwise I would set the white balance to tungsten and reshoot.

Congrats, will the 350 allow you to set a custom WB? If so, take a picture of a white towel in the same position and use it as your custom WB.

Well, if you're planning to turn your image editing on, I'll throw in an edit to show you what is possible with a little work. Took about a minute to do this. Did a temperature adjust, contrast, and a run through Noiseware. If you're going to shoot indoors, and you have a room like a bathroom, what you want to do for lighting is shoot under Daylight fluorescent lighting, not incandescent and not Cool White or Warm White. Cool White and Warm White will give you a yellow cast, just as incandescent would. Go to the local hardware store and look at those twisty bulbs that replace incandescent. You'll see they have Daylight, try them in your fixtures and see how they change the light...

Congratulations! Props for using a real camera instead of just auto-reacting with a cell phone like most folks these days :)

One other thing that would have made this a rocking' shot would be to get a lower angle on it, shoot it in portrait mode with a wider lens. Still have the test strip in focus in the fore ground, but in the back ground have the mom to be leaning against that wall and way out of focus. Maybe a pensive, nervous look, expression or pose. It could be something you'll both treasure forever.

And congrats! With a seven month old running around the house I'm sure he's already not sleeping much already. Maybe he's used to it by now.
I have two kids as well, you'll survive... until they reach the teenage years...
