I shot these games last week at Vista's home gym. We were playing Oak Ridge who is one of our biggest rivals. With the exception of #1, all were shot at ISO 5000, f/3.2, 1/500 ss.

#1. I tried to shoot pre-game introductions, but it was pretty tough since they killed the lights, but this is one of the Varsity players dancing after his intro. (1/250ss, f/2.8, ISO 6400, I probably could have slowed the SS and got a better shot)

#2. Vista was down by 3 with 4.5 secs left. #23 (kid in middle) was fouled on a 3 pointer. Went to the line and hit first two without hitting the rim. Shot the 3rd, hit the back of the rim, bounced up, came back down hit the side of the rim and bounced out. I missed the reaction immediately after he missed because the AD stepped in front of me. So this is what I could get.

JV game was not nearly as close. Vista was beat pretty badly.
#5 My son (in white) finally getting some playing time.

#8 I had to document the coach's tie from this game. It was the worst tie I have ever seen. I guess it matched the way his team played.

Good shots! Which focus mode are you using? Curious as I've had trouble getting good focus. I believe the issue is behind me, but looking for others who shoot 7D to see what focus mode others are choosing to get good results.

Also, 70-200? Got to give mine a try someday! I like the extra width you got at 70mm. My 85mm is really too tight around the basket.

For these games I was using the center zone focus. It seems to work pretty well for me.

I use the 70-200 because it is the only lens I have that can do the trick indoors. I like being able to drop to 70mm as play gets into the key, but I usually zoom out to nearly 100mm to catch some shot near the 3-point line.
