POF had their monthly event Saturday and even though it was raining and the demo flight was cancled they had a very interesting speaker, Aviation Archaeologist Pat Macha, which made the trip worthwhile. Heres His web site if anyone is interested.http://www.aircraftwrecks.com/
This time I tried out some detail shots of the aircraft. Any advice on making my shots better is greatly appreciated.

1. This is the only Seversky 2PA flying. I just noticed that the tag on the Horizontal stabilizer says Republic.Have to ask about that next visit. No flush riveting then I guess.

2. This is a new ? mfg Yak 3-U. It was built in Russia by Yakovlov using original planes and dies. It is powered by an Allison V1710 engine. It has just finished an off site overhaul and is ready for paint.

3. This P-51,Spam Can, is one of the original planes of the Museum and has a lot of "character ".

8.F-3f Replica I was told that this is one of five built. She is having the engine rebuilt. I just liked the rivet pattern.

Very Nice! Superb textures!

The YAK looks as if they not only used Soviet Plans but Soviet manufacturing techniques as well!

This is the only Seversky 2PA flying. I just noticed that the tag on the Horizontal stabilizer says Republic. Have to ask about that next visit.

Alexander de Seversky's company was renamed "Republic" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seversky_Aircraft_Corporation) after he lost control of the business.

Jay, The Docent at Museum mentioned that the Yak's quality left something to be desired.

Well, I guess so long as it gets an airworthyness certificate...

(I'm not sure I'd want to be the Test Pilot though)

Cool detail shots, but I found myself wanting to see more of the planes as well. Detail shots, to me, are there to support the wide shots. Thus telling a complete story.

I guess I try to tell a story with my camera when I shoot something. Maybe it's all those photo journalism classes I took in college and work I did as a staff photog at the college newspaper back in the day.

If you have anymore wider shots of the planes, I'd love for you to post them up!

I'd like to see the muzzles sharp in #7, but they're good shots.
