My 300D went dead after a day of shooting.
I purchased camera at BH last Christmas. I tried recharging battery, removing and mounting lens but nothing.
I think I'll need to go to repair shop. NYers please recommend a repair shop in the city. My camera could also use a cleaning.
If you could, please include estimated cost of repair, your experience and cost for your service.

If it's less than a year old, it'll be under warranty. Call Canon's tech support line and they'll tell you where to send it and try to give you help to get it working again, etc.

Just curious.... did you try a different battery? If the one you have has bit the dust and won't hold a charge, it may simply be a matter of replacing the battery.

Mark: you think? I was using the camera when it went dead. I'll try cleaning the sensors on my charger and battery.
Does anyone have information about the smaller battery which is inside the battery grip. Sorry I'm at work and don't have my manual to look it up. But I'd love to hear what you know about it.
By the way, I haven't purchased a new battery yet or even taken my camera in to be looked at. I'm in deep denial that it might be something else and I don't want to find out what it is. So I'm hoping it's just the battery.
