So I needed a flash bracket..... After asking which one to get here I was told to get the Stroboframe pro T. Looking at it at the local store and the price tag I said to my self.....I can make that!

So I did, this is version 1.0
There will be at least a version 2.0 maybe more...

That's really cool! I'd still rather have the pro made one myself, it has nice padding and no sharp edges :)

Great idea. I like the way you use a end screw on the top bar to stop it vertically and horizontally. Can't wait for the 2.0.

One question: does the bottom bar coming out of the base plate interfere with the vertical shutter?

Thanks!
For the verticle shutter I milled it back and rounded the edge to fit fine.
I'll get a pic of that tonight.

OK, so I left my flash bracket in a paint booth awaiting paint tomorrow, I had it prepped today.
So I'll post a pic of the finished product. Version 2.0 will get anodized, paint was quicker....

Question: when the the camera is in portrait position and the bracket is moved to have the flash over the lens, is it a problem that the flash-head is vertical instead of horizontal? isn't the width of your flash now narrower in the portrait position? also, the side arrangement won't allow you to put the flash in bounce position.

Don't get me wrong, Kent. I applaud your effort. I just thought a slight adjustment is needed for that side position.

mark,

You want the flash to match the frame, verticle for portrait shots and horizontal for landscapes. The flash will rotate "left to right" to bounce.

This is also version 1, I'll start another one soon.

I have yet to start another. I am quite satisfied with how it turned out myself!

Someone would think you really went broke investing in that camera, lenses and flash.
Anyway, I really like homemade stuff:)

If you decide to get a commercial bracket, I'd look at the Newton over Stroboframe. It's just more solid and wedding photographer really like it.
