The shadow in this one is pretty bad, but it still worked out ok, i think anyhow :)

Shot against the very white sky.
My first shots so im pretty happy how they worked out. All shot on manual and she was very hard to photograph as her face was pretty emotionless most of the time lol.

On 1), I am supposed to focus on her eyes, but my eyes somehow keep going back to her upper lip:cry:

Yeah she has a fair few peircings, im getting some really attractive friends over the next week to let me practice on them :)
The first shot i liked because it reminded me of a really old horror movie, or somthing of that sort.
the second one i just liked how it worked out i guess :)
Thanks :)

I think as art, these almost work. As portraits they fail.
The reason there is any merit at all is in the beauty of the subject.
The first one looks like shadow from being too close with the flash, thats fine if thats a look you wanted, providing that the face was a little better exposed.
The second shot is a good concept, but just too dark to work.
If it's someone you know try them again stop down for 1, and open up or slow the shutter for 2.

I agree. I think if you shot this in RAW you could lighten the area around her face before the BW conversion so that we can see her a bit more. To me the shadow is just a little overbearing.
