hey guys,

what do you guys think?

Ive got the 28-80 sigma and my 70-300 non APO.
they are the cheapest lenses i could probably find.
i bought them 4 years ago to complement my elan7e.

i have the possibility of maybe getting the grip for the xt or the nifty fifty.

when i have my 70-300 on the xt my hands arent comfortable after only a short time.
and the reason i would want the nifty fifty is so i could get sharp images once in a while :).

note.. i have 2-3 filters for 52mm and no lens to use them on.
(star filter..etc..)

what would you guys do? if i got one but not the other i would have to wait a while to get the other.

all comments welcome.

Get a decent standard zoom lens first - Tamron 28-75, Sigma 24-70, Canon 24-70, all F2.8. The 50mm F1.8 is a below average lens at a cheap price, i'd not recommend it at all, skip it and get the 1.4. I mean to buy a grip as soon as B&H have them in stock.

The grip is nice to have, but not actually going to really make much difference.
The nifty will give you a nice sharp lens that is quite fast.
You probably don't have enough to buy a 'nice' zoom.

Buying the 50mm will make you realise how good your camera can be.

I would buy the 50mm II as it is very light and produces some very nice images: a solid, no frills performer at a great price. You won't need the grip with it. I DO think the XT needs a grip to help it handle better with a larger lens, but if you can't go for both the 50mm will compliment what you have and give you more satisfaction.

I don't understand why battery grips are so popular, for me the 10D is more than big and heavy enough. Ok, the Rebel XT is a lot smaller and lighter...

The 50 f/1.8 II is a must have! It's cheap, small, light, fast and very sharp.
