USB remote control for Canon Powershot A95? (special kind)

I have thought that it might be easy to make a remote control that could be attached to the USB port of the camera. Does anyone know if someone have made this available?

It would be a great idea for any wanting to make a great accessory. Probably the unit would be the same for every camera, only the programming would be different.

(I know of the possibility to use my computer, but it is a bit of a drag to take my computer with me on all places I go.)

From a hardware point of view I think one could obtain microprocessor cards from anyone of the advertisers in Mags like Nuts and Volts or Circuit Cellar. It may even be possible to go wireless. The problem is the software to communicate with the camera. I don't think Canon or any of the manufacturers publish their software interfaces, do they?
