Lovely rims but the chrome/CF is a poor choice of a rich mans modding scene.

Better than the owner of this though

Niiice. I actually like the chrome. Not keen on the wheels though.....but I wouldn't say no!

On a recent Top Gear broadcast they said that those things actually cost more than a million to make so they end up selling them at a loss as some sort of demonstration project. How does one get on the charity list?

The porsche 959 had the same deal. Cost nearly twice as much to make.
I'm not too familiar with the pricing of the veyron but, it wouldn't surprise me if it did sell for less. Well worth it IMO. 8-)

Maybe it's just me, and I know it is supposed to pay homage to the great old Bugattis, but the radiator grille on the front of the Veyron just looks ridiculous.

A natural veyron is polished aluminum and carbon fiber.... naked... but most are painted. Sang Bleu basically means Blue Blood... like Pur Sang it means Pure Blood. I finally got home, thanks for the comments.

Have a look for the Cadillac Escalade owned by Diouf. He's a Premiership footballer and apparently a bit of a knob.

I saw it bombing down the motorway once, and it looks so tacky.

I doubt many (if any) qualified, well informed people have actually commented on production costs, but the speculation I've heard is the construction costs are less than the sale costs. Your quote comes from the research and development cost shared out between the 300 Veyrons. Considering I've heard Veyrons cost the customer anywhere between £700,000 and £2,000,000, I'm not sure internet ramblings have any credibility.

this is a 1 of 1.... and supposidly worth over $3 million. It was interesting seeing blue carbon fiber... like a 50 percent opacity thing vs fully painted.

I dont know whats wrong with you guys that dont like it, but that thing is a work or art. CF and Polished never looked so good.
I doubt its chrome due to the weight factor.

I think its polished aluminum. (the 2 are very similar... but why put chrome on an already heavy ass car?)

So if you discount R&D they sell them at a profit. If you take out Mortgage and Food I turn a healthy profit too..

As I was surfing Bugatti Veyron videos until the wee hours (thanks POTN), they toured the "factory" and did indeed confirm that they sell all of the Veyrons at a loss. The Veyron was developed as an engineering feat and showcases what Bugatti is capable of as a car company. It was heralded in all of the videos I saw as the fastest, most capable, best handling, easiest to drive, yada yada yada - basically, it blows all of the other supercars away in every category.

I'm guessing it's polished aluminum, not chrome. Polished metals are nice, IMO. Chrome... not so much. :p

I agree on the wheels, however. :p

That Veyron is just sick! However that motorcoach in #4 could cost as much or more than the car depending on how it's fitted. I used to drive one for an IndyCar team and the one I drove was about $1.5M and it was middle-of-the-line.

It's not modded, that's just one of the versions of the veyron you can get ...

Hence the title Sang Bleu, whitch is the name of this version. And it's not chrome, it's polished aluminium.

Not many of those around.

You must have shot that at 1/8000th shutter to freeze the speed of it going by... seeing as the spoiler only comes up when you're going very very fast. Either that or he's a douche bag that manually put it up so people will think it's extra cool.

thats not so, an owner can put it up manually when its parked. It was up while parked. I've seen a lot of veyron owners whos kept it up (less boring) while at shows.

How do you figure? The veyron smashed the F1. Yeah, it lost the start, but it weighs nothing compared to the veyron. Not saying the F1 is anything but a brilliant car, but c'mon, it lost the race!

Your last comment is not relevant to anything really. If the F1 had a hairdryer or 2 on it the thing would have left the veyron in it's wake. A turbo makes any engine work "properly". Age has nothing to do with it.

willpower is no match for horsepower.

That page makes them seem common. Every time I see a photo of a Veyron I get a subconscious feeling of "Wow, that's THE Veyron!". I was the same with Concorde.

I wonder what 298 Veyrons next to each other would look like. :p

1/4 mi 9.9s @144mph!

I used to work for an IndyCar team and got the chance to drive a 1997 Reynard/Mercedes on the runway and tarmac of an airport the team rented. That was a 1500lb car with somewhere around 900hp (though MB would never say) and it was brutally fast. I can't imagine driving something so close to that kind of lb/hp ratio on the street. The Ultimate Aero may cost $740k but I guess that's what you pay for bragging rights.
