hi there all,
I haven't been around lately - hectic at work with the Football World Cup we are doing.
I did a shoot on Sunday with a 14 month old who tantrumed from the moment they stopped the car to the moment they left.
So i was hoping to get some C&C from you on these photo's please. Would you as parents be happy with these?

I would be very happy with those, especially if the baby was unhappy while doing the photo shoot.

Would never have guessed, you even got her smiling in a couple of them. I'm sure the parents will love them!

here are my thoughts.
1-3, I would have used portrait orientation especially with a white bg there is a lot of dead space.
4. Would've liked to see it more centered.
5. love the expression here, my only nitpick would be to cut off the part showing the waist line, or show more of it.
6. like this shot a lot too, but the pony tail is a little distracting, I might have shifted here head a bit so it doesn't look like it's going towards mom's face. But I realize sometimes you don't have control over that :)
again, very well done!

I think you did very well, considering she was being a little "princess" ! lol
To me, they look a little blown, the lighting is very funky, what power were your lights set at? And what was your camera settings?
I see some hotspots on my calibrated monitor.
as for your poses, I think the parents are going to be happy, you wouldn't know she was mucking up by looking at the pics.
The parents saw what she was like, so I think they will be stoked with the end result - well done, I know how hard kids can be !

I think they're adorable!
The colors on #5 seem off...maybe just a smidge over-saturated? Is it just me?
#3 is my favorite!

You got some good images in a tough situation. Bravo!
I really like #3, although I agree that it needs to be cropped, IMO.
Nicely done, I know how difficult kids can be at that age... (Or ANY age, LOL)

You got some great shots here! They all look a bit soft though. What were your settings?

HI all,
Thanks so much for the kind words,
I had my lights on 98% power - one at 45 degrees to subjects and teh other off centre to my left behind me. ISO 100 and F7.1 at 100 or 125 w/b as flash.
This is the first time i tried my lighting like this. i quiet like the way it turned out.
Mercersmoments - which images have blown out spots?
How would you guys crop #3 please feel free to crop and let me see if you dont mind...
well i got a response from my client... and i quote "OMG they are amazing I would like to take them all"
YAY always happy when i get a response like that

"OMG they are amazing I would like to take them all"
Well, that is the main thing, you pleased your clients ! Well done
in number one, the mum's shoulder is blown, and in the last one I see no detail in right side of the child's nose.
But as long as they print out fine, then don;t worry - it could also be the backlit screen we are seeing them on.
They just seemed a little over exposed.
perhaps try f8 - f9 half power on both lights (are they 500 watt?) 160 - 200 and check your histogram :) these settings always give me pleasing results:
